Mother's Day - SKIDAMARINK!

Just finished celebrating Mother's day with the children. I invited all their mummies to join the event and the children prepared something really special. I did not expect to see the mums crying because they were so touched. I was a really nice day.

I laid table top activities that the children can play with their mums. Building blocks, sensory activities, lego, play dough and little play picnic area in the corner. Then here comes circle time. We sang songs, did our usual routine. Then I clapped my hands three times, asked the children to stand up and let mummy sit down. They have absolutely no idea what the children were up to!

Then the children started singing Skidamarink and held mummy's hands during the chorus and guide them to the circle, they walked around the room and gave mummy a big hug and big kiss after the song. The surprised look on the mother's faces were priceless. Their kids can do so much, they did not realise.

Then we made a simple photo frame with mummy using lolly sticks and foamy stickers. They decorated it with glitter and it was fantastic!

Then come the last surprise! I printed a poem on tracing papers a few days ago and let the children put their handprints on it. I used tempera paint. Then I put their picture behind the paper, laminated it. I made the children hand it to their mums and give them a big kiss. Some mummies started going emotional. It was wonderful.

So that's my Mother's day special with my two year olds.
